INIA's Department of Environment and Agronomy studies the influence of environmental factors on agricultural activity as well as the effects of such activity on the environment.

  • Sustainable Agriculture and Soil Ecology

    We investigate the impact of agroecosystem management practices on the services they provide, including crop productivity, soil and vegetation fertility and biodiversity, carbon and nitrogen sequestration, and control of greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Ecotoxicology

    The Ecotoxicology thematic area integrates two different research groups with the general objective of evaluating the potential toxic effects of pollutants on aquatic and terrestrial organisms exposed through the environment, using in vitro and in vivo assays.

  • Environmental Chemistry

    Our research focuses on the development and application of methodology for the analysis and evaluation of the behavior of organic contaminants in environmental and food matrices, as well as the development of diagnostic tools for the diagnosis of vegetation condition.
